Lamination changes the appearance and feel of a business card and helps protect the print from wear. Compare matte, gloss, soft-touch and anti-scuff finishes, then select an option in the calculator.
How to choose business card lamination
| Finish | What changes | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Matte | A surface without strong gloss | Restrained design, text and brand graphics |
| Gloss | Shine and image appearance | Photographs and vivid imagery |
| Soft-touch | A soft, velvety feel | When tactile impact matters |
| Anti-scuff | Increased coating resistance to scratches | Frequently handled cards |
The calculator offers coating on one or both sides. Results depend on the paper, film and artwork. The coating name alone does not determine finished card thickness.
Business cards with matte lamination
Matte lamination reduces gloss and suits understated graphics. It remains a coating on a paper product and does not turn the card into plastic.
Tell us in advance if you need to write dates, names or other information on the card. This depends on the particular film and pen and should be checked on a sample.
Business cards with gloss lamination
Gloss creates a reflective surface and can make images more vivid. Consider reflections, background and text size when choosing: visual impact should not reduce the legibility of contact details.
Business cards with Soft Touch lamination
Soft-touch is chosen for a velvety feel distinct from standard matte and gloss films. The coating can be the main finishing feature.
Agree any foil, varnish or additional finishing over the film in advance: compatibility depends on the particular materials and process.
Business cards with Anti-scuff lamination
Anti-scuff is a coating option with increased scratch resistance. It does not make a card indestructible: appearance depends on handling and storage. Consider it when protecting the surface during regular use matters.
Business cards with spot varnish
A selective glossy effect can highlight a logo, lettering or pattern. Clear toner and screen-applied UV varnish produce different results; combinations with lamination are not universally interchangeable.
We quote the highlighted areas, process, material and quantity from your artwork. This effect is not automatically included in ordinary lamination pricing.
Protection and use: what to consider
Lamination helps protect the print from abrasion, but the edges and base of a paper card remain sensitive to conditions of use. It does not promise unconditional waterproofing or unlimited life.
Discuss a sample and specification before ordering if a particular thickness, writing surface or coating resistance is important.

Business card artwork: check before printing
Match the artwork size to the finished card you selected. Our general requirements specify 2 mm bleed on every side and at least 3 mm between important text or logos and the finished edge. For a 90×50 mm card, the file including bleed is 94×54 mm.
Prepare raster images in CMYK at 300–450 dpi at print size and convert fonts in vector files to outlines. If you need design help, send your logo, contact details and preferences; the scope and cost are agreed separately.
For foil, white or clear toner, relief and other finishing, agree the placement of elements and preparation of separate layers. Requirements depend on the chosen process; a screen mock-up of an effect does not replace the production file.
How to order business cards
- Price a standard option. Choose the size, stock, one or two printed sides, finish and quantity in the calculator. Send non-standard board and finishing for an individual quote.
- Agree the file and timing. Send the artwork and required delivery date. A manager checks the specification and agrees the final price and production time before work starts.
- Receive your order. Collect the cards at our Kharkiv office or arrange Nova Poshta shipping across Ukraine. Delivery time is separate from production time.
