DTF and cut heat-transfer vinyl are different transfer methods. DTF prints the image onto a carrier film; a plotter cuts shapes from coloured vinyl for the other method. Choose the process to suit the design: neither is universally cheaper or more durable.
Direct-to-garment printing (DTG) and sublimation are separate processes. The online calculator on this page prices DTF. If your brief specifies another process, its suitability and price need a separate quote.
T-shirt printing prices: what the quote includes
The online calculator offers white and black cotton T-shirts or printing on your own T-shirt or sweatshirt. Choose front and back print sizes separately, from the listed options between 100×100 and 285×400 mm. These are image dimensions, not clothing sizes.
You can price a single item; the calculator scale includes quantities up to 50. Other quantities, unusual positions and heat-transfer vinyl need an individual quote. The total depends on the garment, print size and number of positions, quantity and artwork preparation. Design work is agreed separately.
Tell us your deadline before ordering. One-day production must be confirmed after checking the file, garment availability and production schedule. Allow for delivery time separately.
DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing on T-shirts and clothing
DTF suits colour designs, logos, illustrations and photographs on light and dark clothing. The image is printed onto special film, coated with hot-melt adhesive powder and transferred to the garment with a heat press. A white layer helps reproduce colours on dark backgrounds; production prepares this layer.
Image dimensions and fabric matter more to your order than printer resolution. Cotton, polyester and blends need a compatibility check for the selected transfer. Fabric coatings, seams, zips and garment construction can limit placement.
A large solid print feels more noticeable on the fabric than small lettering or a design with open areas. If softness and fit are priorities, show us the artwork and discuss print dimensions before production.
Heat transfer and T-shirt printing with heat-transfer film:
Plotter-cut heat-transfer vinyl suits lettering, surnames, sports numbers and logos with clear outlines. Shapes are cut, excess vinyl is removed and the design is heat-pressed onto the fabric. Material colour and type, including Siser options, are selected for the project and availability.
This process differs from printing a full-colour image onto printable transfer film. For photos or complex gradients, consider DTF first; for names and numbers, discuss cut vinyl. Fine detail and multiple colours affect preparation and price.
Vinyl for sports synthetics, stretch fabrics and treated textiles must be compatible with the garment. Send the fabric composition and garment photos so we can select a suitable transfer material.

For printing on your own clothing, send photos of the item and composition label, plus your preferred print position. Compatibility is confirmed before the garment enters production. For a team, prepare a list of sizes, names and numbers where these differ.

How to prepare DTF artwork
- Specify the print dimensions in millimetres and its position: front, back or another agreed location.
- Supply the image at actual size, 150–300 dpi at its final dimensions. Enlarging a small image does not restore detail.
- For a design without a rectangular background, send PNG or PSD with transparency. JPG is suitable when the background is part of the design.
- RGB or CMYK, 8-bit files are accepted starting formats. Keep white design elements and agree the white underbase with production.
- Include vector source files for lettering and logos if available. If you have no artwork, send an idea or photo so we can quote design preparation.
Do not add bleed intended for paper printing. Textile transfers need the design dimensions, a clean background and an agreed position. Check spelling, numbers and contact details before printing.
Caring for a printed T-shirt
Washing instructions depend on both the garment and the transfer material. Before the first wash, confirm the waiting time, temperature, spin and tumble-drying instructions for your order. Different vinyl products have different requirements.
Turn the garment inside out, avoid rubbing the design and do not iron directly onto the print. Tell us if the garment will be workwear or washed frequently when choosing a process. Print lifespan depends on the fabric, transfer and care.
